Our approach to your privacy

We built KnowMotors to be a research tool, not a data-harvesting operation. We keep collection minimal and, where we can, non-identifying.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.

This page tells you plainly what we gather, why each item exists, and how long it stays. If anything here is unclear, our contact page is open for questions.

What we do not collect

We do not ask you to create an account to read the site, so we do not hold passwords or profiles. We do not collect payment details, since we do not sell anything directly.

We do not track your precise location, and we do not gather sensitive personal information. The less we hold, the less there is to lose, and that is a deliberate choice.

Cookies and analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to see which pages readers find useful, so we know what to improve and what to write next. If advertising is enabled on the site, some advertising cookies may also be set.

Cookies are small files your browser stores. You can control or block them through your browser settings, and the site remains readable without them, though some features may work less smoothly.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links, mostly to car-care products and tools, are affiliate links. When you click one, the destination retailer may set its own cookie to credit us with a small commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you.

That process is handled by the retailer under its own privacy policy, not ours. Affiliate links never change what we recommend, and clicking one does not share your identity with us.

Third parties

Outbound links, embedded content, analytics providers, and any advertising partners have their own privacy policies, and their handling of your data is governed by those policies rather than this one.

We choose partners with care, but once you leave our pages or interact with embedded content, you are subject to the other party's terms. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for. Emails are retained until your question or correction is resolved and for a reasonable period afterward for our records.

Analytics are held in aggregated, summarized form that is not tied to you as an individual. When data is no longer needed, we remove it or keep it only in a form that cannot identify you.

How we protect what we hold

We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to keep the limited data we hold secure, and we restrict access to it to the people who need it to run the site and reply to you.

No website can promise perfect security, but keeping collection minimal is itself a protection: data we never gather cannot be exposed. Where we rely on outside providers for analytics or hosting, we choose services that apply their own security safeguards.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over the personal data we hold, including the right to ask what we have, to request a correction, or to ask us to delete it. You can control cookies through your browser at any time, and you can opt out of most analytics using standard browser tools or extensions.

To make a request about your data, write to us and we will respond within a reasonable time. We will not charge you for a straightforward request, and we will not treat you differently for exercising a right you hold.

Children

This site is intended for adults researching a vehicle purchase. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age at which such consent is required in their region.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
